Ok—Enough Turkey! Did you know eating a lot of turkey can make you sleepy? At least this is what I was told by some relatives yesterday as we feasted around the Thanksgiving table. I had never heard this before. Have you? If so—can you prove it? If so –come ready Sunday to tell us all about this magic sleeping food. Well-I don’t know about that-but I do know that ou and I have the most incredible reason to give thanks. This Sunday-we will gather around the Word again and allow James to remind us of God’s DIVINE FAVOR waiting for each one of us when we “run to His name”. This is exactly what King Asa did when God’s people were confronted with the enemy breathing down their throats. God’s Man-Asa-ran to the name of God and found Divine Favor! Feel like the enemy is breathing down your throat? Finances or other circumstances about to push you off the cliff? Depression lurking in the windows of your soul? Well then- make sure you are here Sunday for a fresh word that will give you the answer for turning your “trials” into opportunities of DIVINE FAVOR & DELIVERANCE. And—why not invite that person who you know is facing difficulties right now in their own lives. It could make a difference for the rest of their life! Again—Happy Thanksgiving and look forward to seeing you all Sunday to “go higher and deeper”! –Blessings–robbie
Thank you Jeff Brooks for being availlable to preach for me yesterday while I was “under the weather” with this cold. I was planning on heading in to my Doc’s office today- but this Mucinex DM has controlled my cough and congestion. (I strongly recommend!) We’ll see as the day progresses. Anyway- I’m glad I still made it to church and enjoyed sitting back while someone else preached. It was reiterated to me and I am sure everyone else that God is no doubt the one and only one who administers righteous judgment, while at the same time allows us to claim the blood of Christ on all our sin in order that we might not be consumed by God’s righteous wrath. This was the passion of the Fathers love for us in that He gave His son to take the wrath in our place. What love and what grace! What redemption –all of which I – We do not deserve. Amazing Grace How Sweet The Sound That Saves A Wretch Like Me ! And now – I stand before the Father -Abba’s throne and sing as Jeff Hall led us yesterday – “It is well-It is well, with my soul!” Selah!
Don’t Let a Beaver Gnaw Your Base!
This morning Pam and I were challenged personally from Psalm 37 where God gives us the privilege as His Children to Trust –Delight, and Commit our troubles of every kind to him. Pam and I were sharing with each other how easy it is to respond too quickly to trials without the JOY factor we have been learning about from James the past couple weeks on Sundays. We read a great illustration about Beavers who gnaw at the base of trees. The base is chewed away at its base until it eventually falls to the ground. Trials-if we let them-can chew away at our base of spirituality and confidence in Christ to the point that we collapse. The truth is—we are made to be mighty oaks in the hands of God! Delighting in and resting in the Lord—is to give every trouble or fear to Him-daily, and watch Him turn the bitter into sweet tasting Joy! If you have a spouse, spend time talking together and sharing your fears and allow God to “grow you both” together during these tough times. J If you are single, find a friend or share with me, your fears, and let’s allow God to change the bitter to sweet Joy! –I have a song for you to listen to–one of my favorite. Older —but encouraging and reflective! Follow the link!http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mWFpj7S-Tbw
See everyone tonight at Life Groups! Coffee House open at 6:15 to “warm you up” as the temperatures drop! J
Awesome time with Dr. David Jeremiah I was deeply blessed, moved, and somewhat “revitalized’ last week while attending a pastor’s breakfast in Greenville with Dr. David Jeremiah. So many things were said to encourage and inspire me as a pastor. All of this came from another older pastor who has served in ministry for many years. What a mentor! What a godly Man who is seasoned with his speech and message while in the pulpit. No pretense. No thought of having to “wow” or “shock” the crowd in order for them to listen., but rather He is truly an instrument of the Holy Spirit. How refreshing! Men like Him are my mentors. I’ll give you one nugget of inspiration he gave us pastors and share more latter. This statement is for you and me. It’s a statement that if practiced could revolutionize the area of our lives as are needed. It is not a statement of Obsessive Compulsion -J- but rather a statement for Divine blessing: “Discipline is doing what needs to be done When it needs to be done, and the best way to get it done—every time you do it!” May this be true of my life and yours—and our church—in every area of our ministry.
